THE ROLE

The Construction Intern is responsible for assisting Project Staff on a construction management project. This internship is on a project site and not a remote opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting with project record keeping, preparing shop drawings, and assisting with cost control records
  • Disseminate Construction information to appropriate parties.
  • Take progress photos of jobsite
  • Review and approve submittals
  • Submit RFIs
  • Handle change management process
  • Observing and reporting results of meeting and conducting site tours for visitors.
  • Monitor field variations and keep the Project Superintendent informed of any changes.
  • Ensure that subcontractors understand and adhere to the job schedule.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with NEI’s safety program, safety codes and regulations.
  • Help perform quantity takeoffs
  • Verify site conditions and coordinate with drawings
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be pursuing a degree in a construction related discipline (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, etc...)
  • Prior exposure to construction industry is a plus
  • Candidate must possess NEI’s Core Values
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for the work and the construction industry is a must.
  • Excellent organizational skills, communication skills and strong attention to detail

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
